It's all about -"I am Hardik Pandya, come look at me!"
He can use the long handle, he can bowl at 140, he takes stunners around the park, there is nothing that Hardik Pandya can not do on a cricket field. As unpredictable a cricketer as he is, there is something about Hardik Pandya that you just like, may be it's the swagger or the power or just his attitude. If we choose to ignore his form off the field, he is a mighty fine for India. When we look at him, we could just feel and sense the confidence oozing. With both his arms loosened away from his body, chewing gum most of the times, his walk from the dressing room to the middle of the pitch is one picture of arrogance itself. Then what he does with the bat in hand is quite astonishing. When Pandya connects it, you can be sure of the ball clearing the ropes without having to check how long the boundary is. Because when Pandya hits it, it does stay hit and it clears the boundary by a long way. When playing against the spinners, he is almost like, 'I am Hardik Pandya. You can not ball at me!'
I think hitting the ball long is a great skill just like bowling quick is. You are blessed if you can do that. Not everyone who hits it big is muscular to eyes. We can understand guys like Gayle and Pollard or Chris Lynn hitting it out of the ground. But with Pandya, his power is not evident in his physique but my god he does hit them beyond 90 meters, doesn't he?
He came into the team as an all rounder but he didn't bowl more than 5 overs most of the times. But now he has started to show some promise as a genuine bowling option for Virat Kohli. His pace has increased a fair bit and that will only add to his arsenal. He was always a brilliant fielder. With acrobatic ground fielding, safe hands and an unbelievable fielding sense, right now he is one of the best and safest fielders in the world.
His attitude is everything he wants to succeed it seems. As I said earlier, he is all about- 'I am Hardik Pandya, come look at me.' Everything he does is eye catching, whether it be batting, bowling or fielding. Not moving an inch after hitting a six, waiting for the ball to come back with one hand on his hip, letting his emotions flow while fielding, he is one of the most exciting cricketers around. Pandya is establishing himself as a finisher for the 'post-Dhoni' era and when you put bowling and fielding on top of that, he has to be a pretty good all rounder!
50% Attitude + 40% skills + 10% Brain = H Pandya
